HK Sheng Kung Hui

The educational ministry of the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui started in 1851 with the founding of St. Paul’s College. As society evolved, various schools were opened to serve different communities. In the 1950s, Hong Kong’s population boomed. To meet the demand, the church opened many schools for quality education for school - age kids.

Sheng Kung Hui schools practice school - based management. The church sponsors schools by raising funds. Once opened, schools are run by independent school boards. Due to education reform, the government redefined the sponsor’s role as a responsible sponsoring body. So, the church set up three independent sponsoring bodies to manage school affairs.
